It’s always nice to read a good news story. And reading about Kimberley and Wes Arscott’s new store, “Silver Screen Toys and Collectibles” in Bobcaygeon is such a story.

Wes Arscott served in the armed forces for 15 years including two as a reservist and 13 in the regular forces. His service included deployments to both Bosnia and Afghanistan.
His love of collecting toys like G. I. Joe and Transformers started in 2006 while he was actually in Afghanistan. A roommate had received a package from home… including a G. I. Joe Collector’s Guide. He read throughout the night.
The story does not start out well. Wes came home and suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He became a prisoner in his own home.
His knowledge of the art of collecting became obvious as he began to venture out to trade shows and festivals geared to pop culture, especially toys and collectibles from the 1970s and beyond. It was his future wife Kimberley who realized he had an enormous knowledge and passion for toy collecting. Together they put that passion into reality by first establishing a website, then a small store and now the grand finale – the opening of a larger store, “Silver Screen Toys and Collectibles.”
The store offers:
· a large selection of collectibles, many that are out of production;
· a gaming lounge, where people can play electronic, board and arcade games.

The store is located at 54 Anne St. and is open six days a week (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
