The Kawartha Lakes Arts and Heritage Trail is a new cultural tourism attraction in Kawartha Lakes, opened in February 2017. The ‘trail’ is virtual, allowing visitors to choose from a wide range of destinations on the Trail Map. The result: your own custom tour, focused on your arts and heritage interests.
Trail members are identified by the official “Arts and Heritage Trail” sign.

The Trail has grown significantly over the past year and now includes over 40 destinations for the 2018 season.
Local artists, museums and cultural destinations that would like to increase awareness about their work can fill out an application to become a part of the Trail.
Participants include:
- Artists or artisans working in any medium
- Galleries or museums that are open for public viewing with hours of operation posted
- Heritage sites that are managed or cared for by local organizations and are publicly accessible for visitors
- Historic buildings
- Walking trails
The trail will help you discover the area’s rich heritage and artistic talent. Use the interactive map to discover lesser-known places and local legends, visit galleries, artisan studios and craft shops, or take in a concert or festival. The Arts and Heritage Trail website and interactive map provide s information about each Trail destination so that you can create your own weekend tour.

Members include Kinmount Artisans Marketplace, Ballyduff Trails, Your Dreams in Wood, Doube’s Trestle Bridge, the Olde Gaol Museum, Kawartha Settlers’ Village, the Austin Sawmill, and Miskwaa Studio & Outdoor Art Gallery…and many more.
Two new destinations include bird and wildlife photography in the Carden Alvar and Wall Together Now, a restoration project for the historic Balsam Lake Dry-stone Wall.
