You might remember I have written about South Pond Farms in the past.

In 2006 Danielle French bought a 60-acre farm in Pontypool – a big decision considering she had four young daughters. The farm was in need of major repairs and rebuilding. She did not have a clear vision of what she wanted to accomplish exactly, but one thing led to another and the dream took on a life of its own.

The barn was in shambles, but the kitchen was created first. After all, it was going to be a source of income. The farm began to flourish, producing vegetables that could be sold and used for her unique culinary events.

Danielle now offers farm to table dinners and events that connect her farm to the local community. If that were not enough, she is the host of the Taste of the Country on Netflix.

You can visit the farm for lunch and hike the trails; have your wedding at the farm; enjoy cooking classes or learn how to make a wreath; plan and design a kitchen garden…

Another unique series of events are the ‘Full Moon Suppers’ – “The Full Moon Suppers are served in different locations on the farm and celebrate the close ties between traditional agriculture and lunar rhythms.”

Mark your calendar for Full Moon Suppers in May, June, July, August and September.

Where can you go to enjoy farm events such as farmhouse feasts and full moon suppers; workshops in cooking, crafting, bread making and floral arranging; trails for hiking and skiing; roasting delicious pastries over a winter fire; and plan your country wedding or host a private event?

The answer is South Pond Farms. They deliver  “Experiences that connect you to agriculture, enjoyment, learning, and inspiration.”

Danielle French is the founder and owner. It all started just 10 years ago, as a small food delivery business and has grown into a culinary destination – plus lots more!

The property is over 60 acres of land tucked into Bethany Hills. While there you can enjoy a farm fresh lunch and baked goods – proof of the strong connection between the land and the food that is grown.  Take your purchase to go, sit and enjoy it in the kitchen or by the fire. Reservations are recommended though!

News of a good thing usually spreads by word of mouth or social media – and it certainly did in the case of South Pond Farms. But there is one more way that people are discovering everything the farm has to offer – South Pond Farm was discovered by Netflix. The creator of a new DIY channel, Makeful, was looking for a unique location to build a series around – South Pond Farms was perfect.

The series is called “Taste of the Country .” Special event planner Danielle French hosts memorable moments at her idyllic farm, where guests enjoy fresh local ingredients and handcrafted décor.”

I peaked at the trailers for some of the episodes. If Episode 2 is an example, you will want to watch the whole series. The Trailer opens with Danielle showing first-hand how they will prepare for 80 guests for a Texas Barbecue Supper Club. Check out the trailers of each show at https://southpondfarms.ca/about/media/

And don’t miss any of the upcoming workshops, such as this one for flower arranging. They sell out fast!
